Lesson 4

💭 Think About...

What special abilities do power-ups give Mario in the video games you know?
How would you make a power-up station that helps someone jump really high?
What makes a power-up station fun and exciting to use?
If you could create any super power for an obstacle course, what would it be?
Why do you think games are more fun when they have power-ups?

🔨 Your Project

**Challenge: Design Your Own Power-Up Station!**

Your mission is to create a special power-up station that gives players super abilities for the obstacle course!

**What You're Building:**

A power-up station that players can visit to get special powers like super speed, high jumps, or shields!

**Step 1: Plan Your Power-Up (10 minutes)**

- Work with your team to pick one super power (like Super Jump, Speed Boost, or Shield Power)

- Draw your power-up station on paper

- Show what action players will do to get the power (like jumping jacks, spinning, or tossing bean bags)

- Make your drawing colorful and exciting!

**Step 2: Build Your Station (15 minutes)**

- Get boxes, tape, and construction paper from the supply area

- Build your power-up station to match your drawing

- Make it colorful so other players will want to try it

- Make sure it's safe and sturdy for everyone to use

**Step 3: Test All the Stations (10 minutes)**

- Present your power-up to the class

- Visit every other team's power-up station

- Do the special action to get the power-up

- Act out your new super ability as you move to the next station!

**The Test:**

Your power-up station works if other students can easily understand what to do and have fun getting their special power!
