Monster Game Showcase

💭 Think About...

1. What makes a game fun and engaging to play? What are some of your favorite game elements?
2. How can a good story enhance a game? What storytelling elements did you focus on in your game?
3. What coding concepts did you find most challenging to implement in your game? How did you work through those challenges?
4. How did testing and feedback from peers help you improve your game throughout the design process?
5. What's one new thing you learned about coding or game design from creating your monster game?

🔨 Your Project

  1. Open up your completed monster game project on your computer.
  2. Test that your game works from start to finish. If you encounter any bugs, try to troubleshoot on your own first. If you get stuck, raise your hand and ask the teacher for help.
  3. Once you've confirmed your game is working, practice presenting it using the Monster Game Presentation Checklist. Make sure to explain the objective, characters, story, challenges, and coding concepts out loud.
  4. When it's your turn to present, connect your computer to the projector with the teacher's help. Pull up your game's title screen.
  5. Introduce yourself and your game's title. Then, use the presentation checklist to guide you through explaining your game to the class. Remember to speak clearly and loudly enough for everyone to hear.
  6. Demonstrate how to play your game by starting a new game. Explain what's happening as you play through the first minute or two. Point out key features and coding concepts.
  7. Wrap up your presentation by sharing one thing you're most proud of about your game and one thing you'd like to improve in the future.
  8. Thank your classmates for listening. The teacher will select a few students to ask questions about your game.
  9. After everyone has presented, fill out a Monster Game Showcase Feedback Worksheet for each of your classmates. Write down one thing you liked about their game and one suggestion to make it even better.
  10. If time allows, play through your classmates' games yourself! See what cool ideas they came up with.
